Make sure to read up on the tutorial

WWE 2K22 took some time, but it has returned since WWE 2K20 which had some issues. If you're a returning player, or an entire beginner, then checking through the game's tutorial when starting out is a good way to start. There are different features added to 2K22 that are new and there might be things that do not carry over from the previous game.

When playing the game for the first time, you'll have a tutorial with Drew Gulak. Here you can learn new things such as how the fighting system works. You can learn how to do combos as well as the grapple system.

Unlock characters and learn about the game's mechanics

Putting what you learned from the game's tutorial into action is a good way for testing out your skills. Aside from going to matches directly, you can try out the different single player features that can help in familiarizing yourself with the game.

Showcase mode lets you go through different matches with tasks included in them. You can only go through the upcoming stages if you perform your current task successfully. Once you have completed this mode, you'll get to unlock more wrestlers for your use as well. It's a good way to practice the game!

Use practice mode so you can test different wrestlers

With wrestling in mind, there may be moves that will look similar to you. However, each character that you can play with has their own distinct style. Moveset can vary between wrestlers, so you'll want to play with a character that suits your preference.

Maybe you're the type that likes slow but powerful attacks, or maybe you're someone who likes flashy looking moves. Heading to practice mode will let you see how each wrestler moves. You can learn about basic attacks, signature attacks, as well as finishers.

Remember to focus on combos and grapples

Unlike its predecessors, WWE 2K22 is quite combo based in order to provide a rush of attacks. You start by initiating contact with your opponent through light strikes, and then you'll need to link it with attacks or grabs. Combo enders are your finishing hits which deal a lot of damage.

Combos can be stopped by your opponents if they press the same button as you, so alternating different attacks must be part of your gameplay. Aside from doing combos, you will also be able to use grapples which let you deal different moves based on how you move your left stick. Try out different combinations for your fights!

Try to adjust the difficulty as you get used to the game

There are a lot of different modes where you can play against AI opponents. Your goal is to win after all and have a successful match, but there may be instances where your computer opponents may be difficult to deal with. By checking the gameplay settings, you can set the difficulty to easy first.

With the easy difficulty, you can use it as a way for you to practice against computer opponents, such as the ones you see in Ladder Match, Royal Rumble, or Hell in a Cell. Once you get a hang of the game, and if you find matches easy, you can then adjust the difficulty once again and start ramping up the levels.

Test out wrestlers created by other players of the game

WWE 2K22 has a set number of wrestlers that you can use in the different modes of the game. However, you might be wondering if there's more that you can play with. One of the features that the game offers is Community Creations. Here, you can try out different wrestlers that aren't in the base game since they are made by the players.

Browse through community creations and you might find some familiar names. You can download them or even their moveset if you want to add it to your own wrestler. Experimenting with what the community has to offer is a great way for you to make the most out of the game.

Tweak your wrestler's stats

There's a lot of familiar names that you will see in WWE 2K22 and the way they move in the game can really provide you a feel of seeing their real counterparts. However, there may be cases in the game where you'd want your wrestlers to be suited for your type of gameplay. Thankfully, you can adjust the attributes of wrestlers in order for them to behave more to your liking.

In order to change your wrestler's attributes, check the options menu > roster > and then edit superstar. Here, you can choose your wrestler and then change their attributes. You can tweak things such as arm and leg power, grapple offense, running offense, strength, stamina, recovery, and so much more.

Adjust your Hit Points ratio

Another way for you to adjust a wrestler to your liking is by adjusting the ratio of their hit points. Unlike other fighting games where there's just one HP bar, WWE 2K22 has the HP of wrestlers split to different parts: Head, Body, Arms, and Legs.

If you have more HP in an area, your AI opponent will likely try to aim for that body part more since it has more HP. However, some opponents may have moves that aim for specific body parts often. If for example you add more points to legs, then it will be harder for others to damage and injure it. However, this will reduce the HP of your other parts so be careful.

Take note of the effects when choosing your GM

When choosing your GM, you'll get effects that will last for a single season. If you want to max out the effects of GMs, you can choose 50 weeks from the session settings menu. GMs that you choose will give you defects for your progression. Here are the effects of each GM:

• Adam Pearce: Increase active rivalry level by one.
• Sonya Deville: Raise your rooster's morale by 15.
• William Regal: First legend you sign after playing this card will be free.
• Shane McMahon: Lets you have a GM interference for +2 show bonus, and is free for one week.
• Stephanie McMahon: Earn double money from arena attendance for one week.
• Custom Superstar: Raise the popularity of the least popular superstar by 20+
