Cherry Chocolate Muffins are my new favorite breakfast. I love the chocolate and cherry combination of these. They are so tasty and full of amazing flavor. They are also moist and keep well. If you are a chocolate lover, than these muffins are for you. They practically taste like a chocolate cupcake.
Sometimes I try to justify eating chocolate for breakfast. These Cherry Chocolate Muffins do have some fruit in them (thank heavens), so you can feel a little less guilty about eating a few for breakfast.
They are sure to please your breakfast guests (and your family too).
I will even make these for snacks, breakfast, side dishes, and dessert. They go with just about everything, and are a hit every time.
When I make them for breakfast, I love to serve them with our Homemade Apple Cider.
These Cherry Chocolate Muffins only take a few minutes to throw together, and taste delicious. You need to try these.

What cherries could I use for this recipe?
I don’t know if I’m very familiar with my cherries all that well, but I will recommend a few that I have become familiar with, and have preferred using when I make my Cherry Chocolate
-Dried Cherries are a great alternative for this recipe. They will be a little more chewy in your muffins, but work just as great.
-Dark Sweet Frozen Cherries would also work. We recommend thawing them before putting them in your muffins, or else they will make your muffins soggy.
-Fresh Dark Sweet Cherries. These are my personal favorite to use with these muffins. They are so sweet and delicious. You are going to love them with your chocolate muffins.

Tara says:
If frozen cherries are used, is there a difference in moisture in the muffins? Does it change the baking time at all?
-
Cyd says:
We didn't notice a difference in the muffins when we used frozen cherries. Cooked them for the time listed on the recipe, but be sure to check them while cooking just to be safe. You don't want them to be overcooked.

Any type of chocolate cake mix? Devils Food, Swiss, Chocolate Fudge... What did you use? Thanks!
-
Cyd says:
We have used Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge, milk chocolate, and double chocolate cake mixes. But any chocolate cake mix will work great!

Kathyd says:
These muffins look delicious. Can I leave the chocolate chips out, maybe replace them with hopped pecans or macadamia nuts?
-
Momma Cyd says:
You can totally add in nuts in place of the chocolate chips. It won't be as chocolaty, but still amazing!
