This week, I had the opportunity to conduct onsite training at WJAR TV in Providence, RI, ( Sinclair Broadcast Group Station) and it was truly a remarkable experience to witness the history and technology of this station. My focus was on delivering cloudbase automation training, and as I stood at the center of the room each day, I was surrounded by the technological advancements that have shaped the history of radio and television in America.While explaining the operations and control of a cloud based broadcast operations system, it became clear to me how far broadcasting has evolved from its origins. I am enthusiastic about the progress of broadcast technology, but I also recognize that not every traditional operator or engineer shares this sentiment, due to the steep learning curve associated with these advancements. Similarly, as IT professionals transition into the broadcast industry, we encounter the challenge of bridging the gap in knowledge, understanding, and experience. This gap presents a significant challenge for all involved. Being a self titled broadcast specialist, I Believe my contribution is to Bridge the GAP and help usher everyone I consult with or train to a greater understanding of today's broadcast cloud computing.
